The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have now received information on 34 deaths and over 1,600 cases of e-cigarette, or vaping, product use associated lung injury (EVALI), as of October 22, 2019. This means over 120 new cases in just one week. The CDC has run a comprehensive analysis on 29 of the deaths.
Low blood levels of immune cells called lymphocytes, in combination with higher levels of inflammation on PET/CT scans, are indicators of active sarcoidosis - an inflammatory disease that attacks multiple organs, particularly the lungs and lymph nodes - which disproportionately affects African Americans.
A high-level inter-governmental meeting of representatives of countries from Asia and the Pacific will begin in New Delhi, India tomorrow. At the meeting, hosted by the Government of India and supported by UNICEF, participants will discuss cooperation for the realization of children's rights and share knowledge and information about early childhood development, children in urban environments and opportunities and issues concerning adolescents.
