Most studies of college-student drinking have looked at the individual, and have relied on self reports. New findings gathered from on-the-spot observations show that parties with drinking games can predict higher blood-alcohol concentrations (BrACs). Young women at theme parties, especially with sexualized themes and costumes, drink more heavily than men.

NanoBio's NB-401 preclinical data to be presented at the 2009 North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference

NanoBio Corporation today announced compelling preclinical data for NB-401, a nebulized nanoemulsion-based agent that kills highly drug-resistant strains of bacteria commonly found in cystic fibrosis patients. Currently there are limited treatment options available that effectively address these resistant bacteria. The study results are being presented today at the 2009 Annual North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference (NACFC) in Minneapolis, Minn.

Reducing levels of the protein tau can prevent seizures and neurological deficits related to Alzheimer's disease

The findings, reported in the journal Science, demonstrate that when tau is removed from mice genetically engineered to simulate Alzheimer's disease, their memory function is retained and they live a normal lifespan. Reducing tau levels also made mice more resistant to epileptic seizures.
