With increasing age the human skin shows a considerable loss of resistance and elasticity. Debiopharm Group (Debiopharm), a Swiss-based global biopharmaceutical group of companies with a focus on the development of prescription drugs that target unmet medical needs, and the Japanese Cancer Association (JCA) presented 'The JCA-Mauvernay Award' to Dr Toshikazu Ushijima from the National Cancer Center Research Institute in Tokyo, for his outstanding and innovative research in basic science in the "epigenetic field for cancerization".
According to a study published in the Lancet on Saturday, researchers from the University of Pelotas in Brazil tracking progress toward the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) 4 and 5 - which promote maternal and child health - "discovered that the most equitable intervention was early initiation of breastfeeding, and that the attendance of a skilled person at birth proved to be the least equitable intervention," Medical News Today reports.
In a study published in Nature Genetics, Dr Saumya Jamuar, co-founder of Global Gene Corp and a visiting scientist at Harvard Medical School, under the supervision of Prof Christopher Walsh and A/Prof Timothy Yu of Harvard Medical School, reports on a new disease entity that they discovered in their quest to map novel human disorders related to brain development.
A new study published yesterday by The BMJ states that air pollution caused by road traffic in London has a harmful impact on babies' health while still in the womb.
