One of the latest hurdles government advisers helping to shape health information technology policy must jump is addressing the amount of control patients should have over their own records, Modern Healthcare reports.
Glan Clwyd Hospital in North Wales has become the first publicly-funded hospital in the UK to invest in Esaote's G-scan Brio, an open, weight-bearing MRI unit for musculoskeletal scanning. In an innovative move, the hospital can now scan patients in any position, from standing vertically to the traditional supine postition laying flat.

An intervention that consisted of home blood pressure (BP) telemonitoring with pharmacist management resulted in improvements in BP control and decreases in BP during 12 months, compared with usual care, and improvement in BP that was maintained for 6 months following the intervention, according to a study in the July 3 issue of JAMA.
