It's well known there's a genetic component to cancer, and that cancer often runs in families. A new study being presented at the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Annual Scientific Meeting in Houston shows an association between a family history of cancer and a childhood asthma diagnosis.
Following the XIX International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2012) in July, "delegates left Washington with a clear focus on achieving an AIDS-free generation," Chip Lyons, president and CEO of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, writes in the Huffington Post's "The Big Push" blog.
A University of California - San Francisco (UCSF) study has revealed new information about how the brain directs the body to make movements. The key factor is "noise" in the brain's signaling, and it helps explain why all movement is not carried out with the same level of precision.
Part of the immune system's pro-inflammatory response to bacterial invasion is to increase nitric oxide levels with an enzyme called inducible nitric oxide synthase.
