A new article about a transgender patient's "freak show" experience in a U.S. emergency department, published online in the Journal of Emergency Nursing, is prompting the country's largest professional organization of emergency nurses to encourage transgender patient care awareness.
Zix Corporation, a leader in email data protection, announces that CIPROMS has signed a three-year renewal for Zix Email Encryption. Providing revenue cycle management to 80 private medical practices throughout Indiana, CIPROMS uses Zix Email Encryption to secure protected health information in email, meet requirements under Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and protect client relationships with covered entities that must also comply with healthcare industry privacy and data security regulations.
Researchers from The Miriam Hospital have found that patients who have completed cardiac rehabilitation and who receive telephone counseling that supports exercise are more likely to adhere to an exercise program. Results of the study, funded by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, are published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.
End-of-life options for seriously ill patients have improved considerably, but still have a ways ago, says a national expert who drew upon the recent experience of his father's death to take stock of the status of end-of-life care in the United States.
