In a series of presentations, panel discussions, and training sessions at the 2012 International AIDS Conference (AIDS2012), the Black AIDS Institute (The Institute) will bring together leaders in medicine, politics, journalism, and the arts to discuss the problem of HIV/ AIDS in the Black Community.
Vanderbilt researchers evaluating existing treatments for children with autism spectrum disorders found although there were positive results in some studies, there is little information to target the right treatments to specific children.
A new study reveals an important and newly discovered pathway used by disease-causing bacteria to evade the host immune system and survive and grow within the very cells meant to destroy them. This discovery may lead to new treatments and vaccines for tuberculosis (TB) and certain other chronic bacterial and parasitic infections.
Researchers have found that a strain of tuberculosis responsible for devastating some isolated Aboriginal populations in Canada was first introduced to these communities by French Canadian fur traders between 1710 and 1870.
