A preclinical study has shown that levels of lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) are significantly increased following traumatic brain injury (TBI).
Antibiotic stewardship programs, which promote the appropriate use of antibiotics in hospitals and other healthcare centers, not only lead to reduction in antibiotic use with reduced adverse events, but also lead to significant savings.
The complication/failure and morbidity rates of laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass can be substantially reduced by the routine use of intraoperative endoscopy with the linear anastomosis technique, the results of a US study indicate.
The researchers hope that by gaining a better understanding of the disease's cellular impacts, progress can be made towards developing a treatment. The research is reported in the current edition of the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease, published by IOS publishers.
Massachusetts General Hospital, together with a coalition of 20 international sites in five countries, will create the world's largest registry of patients who have had optical coherence tomography of the coronary arteries.
