Teaching middle-school children about nutrition and exercise and encouraging them to watch less TV can save the health care system a substantial amount of money, suggests an economic analysis from Children's Hospital Boston and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
GI Dynamics, a leader in non-surgical treatments for type 2 diabetes and obesity, today announced that additional results from a previously reported clinical study regarding mechanisms of action will be presented on Saturday, August 29, 2009 by Manoel Galvao Neto, M.D., scientific coordinator, Gastro Obeso Center, Sao Paulo, Brazil and lead investigator for the study, at the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO) 14th World Congress in Paris, France.
A new study shows that having depression may nearly double your risk of developing dementia later in life. The research will be published in the July 6, 2010, issue of Neurology-, the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology.
The results recently published by the American Council on Exercise are significant because a meaningful increase in EPOC over the long term can have an important impact on calorie expenditure and help people achieve weight loss and weight maintenance and improve their fitness.
