University of Illinois at Chicago researchers are comparing two drugs used to treat pediatric bipolar disorder patients to evaluate how the drugs affect brain function in children with the disorder.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today asked manufacturers to add new warnings to labeling of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonists, a class of drugs primarily used to treat men with prostate cancer.
There are 18 separate tax hikes in the Reid-Obama healthcare bill. Johnson and Johnson's (J&J) commonly used over-the-counter painkiller Tylenol has been recalled again in some batches because of complaints of a musty or moldy odor in the product. The company is facing a U.S. congressional probe of quality control lapses in the past as well. The drugs recalled to date include the painkiller Motrin and allergy treatment Benadryl as well as this batch of 100,000 bottles of Tylenol.
Groups representing doctors and hospitals are coming out against the inclusion of a Medicare "buy-in" in the Senate health bill, The Washington Post reports. The groups joined Republicans in arguing "that a plan by liberal Democrats to allow uninsured individuals as young as 55 to buy into Medicare would be financially untenable and would jeopardize access to health-care services for millions of Americans."
