Democrats successfully shifted a debate over religious liberty to birth control last week, but opponents of the contraception mandate are trying to shift it right back. The political debate over the birth-control mandate in the health care law is largely a fight over how to frame the issue.
GTx, Inc. today reported financial results for the first quarter of 2010. The net income for the first quarter ended March 31, 2010 was $44.3 million compared with a net loss of $11.3 million for the same period in 2009. Net income for the current period included the recognition of approximately $54.9 million in collaboration revenue due to the termination of our license and collaboration agreement with Merck & Co., Inc in March 2010.
Women's minds and genitals respond differently to sexual arousal, whereas in men, the responses of the body and mind are more in tune with each other, according to Assistant Professor Meredith Chivers, from Queen's University in Kingston, Canada, and her international collaborators, Michael Seto, Martin Lalumi-re, Ellen Laan, and Teresa Grimbos. A Penn research team, led by Mitchell Lazar, MD, PhD, director of the Institute for Diabetes, Obesity, and Metabolism at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, reports in Nature Medicine that mice in which an enzyme called histone deacetylase 3 (HDAC3) was deleted had massively fatty livers, but lower blood sugar, and were thus protected from glucose intolerance and insulin resistance, the hallmark of diabetes.
