Peter Jackson, MD, of Virginia Commonwealth University, has been named the first recipient of the CHEST Foundation/ATS Research Grant in COVID and Diversity.
In today's news, reports on continuing congressional efforts to reach a deal on the current-year budget and on a move by Medicare to cover Provenge, a prostate cancer drug.
Despite the economy's negative impact on Minnesota building projects, 22 regional construction firms have been recognized by Minnesota Laborers-Employers Cooperation and Education Trust (LECET) for their commitment to worker safety in 2008.
Injured heart tissue normally can't regrow, but researchers at Children's Hospital Boston have now laid the groundwork for regenerating heart tissue after a heart attack, in patients with heart failure, or in children with congenital heart defects.
In 2012, 1,556 Danes were found positive with methicillin-resistant staphylococci - MRSA. This represents an increase of 20% from 2011. In fact, the total number of cases has almost doubled since 2009. MRSA bacteria are resistant to antimicrobial agents that are essential for treatment of treating life-threatening infections in humans.
