Testing for those who have developed antibodies against the coronavirus can help tackle the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Now, a new study has identified all the antibody tests available for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) to determine which performs better and is more accurate.
A study by UCLA researchers shows that in people with mild cases of COVID-19, antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 - the virus that causes the disease - drop sharply over the first three months after infection, decreasing by roughly half every 73 days.
Healthcare leaders have learned that sometimes medical breakthroughs simply aren't enough. Patients can forget up to 80% of their doctor's instructions by the time they hit the parking lot. As a result, a lack of patient engagement creates a cascade of costs and negative outcomes ranging from readmissions, to poorly-managed chronic conditions, to medication non-adherence and more.
The discovery by Uppsala University researchers of a previously unknown protein in the cells of the lower air ways brings new potential for early diagnosis of a serious lung disease.
