The findings of a new study suggest that the protective effects of an active cognitive lifestyle arise through multiple biological pathways.
In the U.S., there are nearly three million youth soccer players, and half of them are female. New research presented today at the 2012 Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) found that despite reporting appropriate body perception and attitudes toward eating, elite youth soccer athletes (club level or higher) face an increased risk for delayed or irregular menstruation.
Pico-Tesla, The Magneceutical™ Therapy Company, announced today that it has enrolled the first seven patients for a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Pilot Study of persons who have type 2 diabetes, the most common form of diabetes. The Pilot Study seeks to determine whether the application of magnetic fields generated by the Company's patented Resonator™ system can be effective as an adjunctive therapy to oral medications in reducing hemoglobin A1c levels.
At a U.N. Population Fund (UNFPA) meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, "[h]ealth ministers from around the world have agreed that swift action must be taken to reduce the number of women dying during pregnancy and childbirth," the BBC reports. While there appeared to be some agreement "that family planning was the most cost-effective way of [tackling] the problem ... no unanimous declaration was adopted at the Addis Ababa talks," according to the news service (10/26).
