Researchers from Dr. Woodland's lab at the Trudeau Institute have now identified a previously unknown link between the migration of white blood cells to infected tissues and the ability of these cells to survive and become long-lived memory cells after the infection has been cleared.
LifePoint Hospitals, a leading company focused on providing quality healthcare services close to home, and the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care have partnered to support LifePoint facilities in attaining Chest Pain Center Accreditation. The effort, which SCPC reports is its first system-wide collaboration of such size, demonstrates LifePoint's commitment to excellence in quality, patient safety and overall patient care.
This increase represents the smallest one in at least a half a century. At the same time, though, medical costs ate up a record share of the overall economy. Experts pointed to the recession as a key explanation.
Following a three-year study of the Arizona State University football program, researchers at the Translational Genomics Research Institute have created the largest dataset to date of extracellular small RNAs, which are potential biomarkers for diagnosing medical conditions, including concussions.
Almost half of those with health conditions said that they skip their medication sometimes, despite knowing its benefits, while more than a quarter are unsure what to do if they experience side-effects, according to COUCH's recently published report, "Are patients receiving value in terms of health literacy?"
