A team of researchers from Cleveland Clinic and the University of California, San Francisco have discovered a new virus in prostate tumours.
LensAR, Inc., a leading developer of next generation laser technology for cataract surgery and other ocular applications, today announced that data from a recently completed clinical trial of the LensAR Laser System will be presented at the upcoming 2009 Joint Meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and Pan-American Academy of Ophthalmology (PAAO). The meeting will be held October 23 - 27, 2009 in San Francisco, CA.
Current research suggests that the inflammatory molecule TNF-α may contribute to delayed bone fracture healing in diabetics. The related report by Alblowi et al, "High Levels of TNF-α Contribute to Accelerated Loss of Cartilage in Diabetic Fracture Healing" appears in the October 2009 issue of the American Journal of Pathology.
