Bioject Medical Technologies Inc., a leading developer of needle-free injection therapy systems, announced today that beginning in September 2011, select Publix Super Markets (Publix) in the Southeast region will be offering flu season immunizations utilizing the Bioject ZetaJetâ„¢. Publix will be conducting evaluations in 52 stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina.

For years, science has generally considered the phosphorylation of proteins - the insertion of a phosphorous group into a protein that turns it on or off - as perhaps the factor regulating a range of cellular processes from cell metabolism to programmed cell death. Now, scientists from the Florida campus of The Scripps Research Institute have identified the importance of a novel protein-regulating mechanism - called sulfenylation - that is similar to phosphorylation and may, in fact, open up opportunities to develop new types of drugs for diseases such as cancer.
Today, Lung Cancer Alliance-Georgia (LCA-GA) thanked Senator Johnny Isakson (R-GA) for being an original sponsor of the Lung Cancer Mortality Reduction Act (S. 752), authorizing legislation that establishes a multi-agency, comprehensive research program addressing all aspects of lung cancer, and called on the entire delegation of Georgia to show their support for the lung cancer community.
