HealthSouth Corporation today announced it has signed an agreement to divest HealthSouth Rehabilitation of Baton Rouge, La., to Baton Rouge Rehabilitation Hospital, LLC. The divesture is expected to be completed on January 29, 2010.
Two junior researchers from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universit-t (LMU) in Munich shall each receive a Starting Grant from the European Research Council (ERC). Professor Jens Michaelis, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, and Privatdozent Dr. David V-hringer, Institute of Immunology, shall receive grants amounting to 1.4 and 1.7 million Euros over five years. With its Starting Grant, the ERC supports highly creative researchers in order to encourage pioneering frontier research.
Even though mortality from congenital heart disease has declined over the last three decades as diagnosis and treatments have advanced, the chances for a child to survive a CHD diagnosis significantly differs based on the country where he or she is born.
Two of six studies released today, reveal important advances in understanding the role of spiritual care in treating people facing serious illness, including cancer and ALS. Until now, no empirical data has existed on the contributions of chaplains in health care.
