Researchers from Taiwan have confirmed a bidirectional relation between schizophrenia and epilepsy. The study published today in Epilepsia, a journal of the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE), reports that patients with epilepsy were nearly 8 times more likely to develop schizophrenia and those with schizophrenia were close to 6 times more likely to develop epilepsy.
The use of diagnostic imaging has nearly tripled since the mid-1990s, according to a new study, raising questions about whether the benefits outweigh the risks of increased radiation exposure.
The Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) is enforcing strict regulations regarding worker exposure to hexavalent chromium in several industries. Hexavalent chromium, a volatized and oxidized form of chromium, has been identified as a carcinogen.
