Partnership for Quality Home Healthcare applauds introduction of Better Care, Lower Cost Act of 2014

The Partnership for Quality Home Healthcare – a coalition of home health providers dedicated to improving the integrity, quality, and efficiency of home healthcare for our nation's seniors – today commended Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR), Senator Johnny Isakson (R-GA), Congressman Erik Paulsen (R-MN) and Congressman Peter Welch (D-VT) for introducing the Better Care, Lower Cost Act of 2014 (S.1932/H.R.3890) to improve the management of care for Medicare beneficiaries living with chronic conditions.

Attacks against health care workers, health facilities and people in need of medical care during armed conflict and other situations of violence pose one of the major humanitarian challenges in the world today and must end. Discovery of shared biological properties among DNA variants may help identify new therapeutic targets

The discovery of shared biological properties among independent variants of DNA sequences offers the opportunity to broaden understanding of the biological basis of disease and identify new therapeutic targets, according to a collaboration between the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Arizona Health Sciences, and Vanderbilt University. The group published their findings this month in npj Genomic Medicine.

Asthma gene found

A gene that is strongly associated with a risk of developing childhood onset asthma was identified by an international team of scientists, whose findings are published in the journal Nature.
