Researchers identify shingles as persistent risk factor for stroke

Researchers map genetic changes that may have facilitated SARS-CoV-2's jump from bats to humans

Researchers from the University of Cambridge and the Pirbright Institute in the UK have identified key genetic changes in SARS-CoV-2 that may be responsible for the virus's jump from bats to humans. The team also determined which animals contain cellular receptors that allow the virus to enter cells more effectively, zoning in on potential animals that acted as an intermediary host in facilitating SARS-CoV-2's zoonosis.

Celldex third quarter net loss increases to $9.1 million

Celldex Therapeutics, Inc. today reported financial results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2010. Celldex reported a net loss of $9.1 million, or $0.28 per share, for the third quarter of 2010 compared to a net loss of $7.2 million, or $0.45 per share, for the third quarter of 2009. For the nine months ended September 30, 2010, Celldex reported a net loss of $25.2 million, or $0.79 per share, compared to a net loss of $23.6 million, or $1.49 per share, for the nine months ended September 30, 2009.

McKesson reaffirms earnings guidance for fiscal 2011

McKesson Corporation today reaffirmed its earnings guidance for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2011 and the underlying key assumptions provided in its press release of May 3, 2010. As previously stated, McKesson expects to earn between $4.72 and $4.92 per diluted share for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2011.
