The Lancet examines goals, challenges of U.S. Office of Global Health Diplomacy

The Lancet reports on the role of diplomacy in U.S. global health efforts, highlighting a recent appearance by Ambassador Eric Goosby, head of the U.S. State Department's Office of Global Health Diplomacy and the U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator, at a town hall forum at the Kaiser Family Foundation in Washington, D.C. Goosby "said the Office of Global Health Diplomacy will work to sustain U.S.-funded health programs in partner countries," according to the journal.

Marijuana vaping usage up among American teenagers

A new study published in the journal JAMA Pediatrics in April 2020 shows that more and more American teenagers were turning to vaping and ingesting marijuana in various forms over the period 2015 to 2018. This is a disturbing trend given the increasing evidence that chronic marijuana use at this age does cause abnormal development as well as causing social consequences.

Pervasis receives $920,000 in grants under QTDP program

Pervasis Therapeutics, Inc. today announced that it has been awarded over $920,000 in grants through the U.S. government's Qualifying Therapeutic Discovery Project, which provides tax credits and grants to projects that show significant potential to produce new therapies, reduce long-term health care costs, or significantly advance the goal of curing cancer within the next 30 years.

Aspirin resistance signals increased stroke severity

Stroke severity and infarct volume are significantly increased among patients who become resistant to aspirin, show study findings published in Neurology.
