Oral BRAF inhibitor can extend survival to 16 months for patients with MM

An international team of researchers from the United States and Australia, including researchers at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Fla., have found that the oral BRAF inhibitor vemurafenib (PLX4032) when tested in a phase II clinical trial offered a high rate of response in patients with previously treated metastatic melanoma and who had the BRAF mutation.

First chemoimmunotherapy regimen approved by FDA for patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma

Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted accelerated approval to Polivy (polatuzumab vedotin-piiq), in combination with the chemotherapy bendamustine and a rituximab product (a combination known as "BR"), to treat adult patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) that has progressed or returned after at least two prior therapies.

Using a patient's own rib cartilage (autologous) for rhinoplasty appears to be associated with low rates of overall long-term complications and problems at the rib site where the cartilage is removed, according to a report published online by JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery.

US Department of Commerce honors Cyanotech with Export Achievement Certificate Award

Cyanotech Corporation has received an Export Achievement Certificate Award from the US Department of Commerce. The award is determined by the Hawaii Export Assistance Center of the department. It was presented by Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle, together with John Holman, Director of the Hawaii Export Assistance Center, U.S. Department of Commerce, at the Hawaii State Capitol in Honolulu.
