Universal public coverage of 117 essential medicines could address the needs of most Canadians for pharmaceutical drugs, and possibly save more than $4 billion a year, according to a new study published http://www.cmaj.ca/site/press/cmaj.161082.pdf in CMAJ.
Republicans talk a lot about how Medicaid block grants could help governors bring down their costs, but they don't talk as much about what, exactly, the states would do with them. It's not that they have no answers. Gov. Haley Barbour of Mississippi has said he'd like to provide home-based care for children with special medical needs, rather than resort to more expensive hospital care, but federal rules get in the way.
A current New England Journal of Medicine study indicates that the use of the PARP inhibitor iniparib in combination with standard chemotherapy to treat metastatic triple-negative breast cancer offers a significant increase in clinical benefit, a measure of durable response or disease stabilization, as well as an increase in progression-free survival.
As part of its ongoing efforts to facilitate healthcare providers' adoption of healthcare information technology, GE announced today that it is extending the purchasing options associated with its Stimulus SimplicityTM program – 0% payment terms and deferred payments until 2012* – to include new purchases of its Centricity® Business solution suite.
Severe allergic reactions called anaphylaxis can be life threatening and can happen to anyone, even those who have never had a history of allergies.
