Organs affected by autoimmune disease could be fighting back by "exhausting" immune cells that cause damage using methods similar to those used by cancer cells to escape detection, according to a study by researchers at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine published today in the Journal of Clinical Investigation.
Scientists from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) response team of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), USA, have recently investigated the effectiveness of COVID-19 Case Investigation and Contact Tracing (CICT) programs in controlling the incidence of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.
Detecting diseases such as cancer in their earliest stages can make a huge difference in patient treatment, but it is often difficult to do. Now scientists report in the journal ACS Central Science a new, simple method that could make early disease diagnosis much easier.
Historically, hair has had a magical and almost cultic importance in human history and was, for instance, believed to be a source of power.
