A study of around 5,000 older men has shown that stressful life events such as death of a loved one, or serious financial problems, significantly raised the risk of falls in the year following the incident. The research is published online today in the journal Age and Ageing.
Scientific research into CGM-like sensors goes back more than 40 years. I was working with the first company to begin commercial development, MiniMed, back in 1992 when the science was really beginning to percolate. In 1999 the FDA approved the first CGM device for use in the United States.
Over a 10 year period, the time that babies receive genetic testing after being diagnosed with diabetes has fallen from over four years to under two months. Pinpointing the exact genetic causes of sometimes rare forms of diabetes is revolutionising healthcare for these patients.
Researchers from the University of Bristol were able to investigate how social behaviors of a university population changed with social restrictions and then the effectiveness of contact tracing in such a setting.
