A team has genetically reprogrammed neurons that could enhance electrical implant function used in various clinical scenarios.
A UK leukemia charity, Leukaemia CARE, has launched the Spot Leukaemia campaign to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of leukemia after a survey revealed that leukemia diagnoses are commonly delayed due to poor understanding.
Cancer drugs of the new, molecular generation destroy malignant breast tumors in a targeted manner: They block characteristic molecules on tumor cells - receptors for the hormones estrogen or progesterone, or a co-receptor, called HER2, that binds to many growth factors. But about one in every six breast tumors has none of these receptors. Such cancers, called triple-negative, are particularly aggressive and notoriously difficult to treat.
Four community hospitals in Texas have taken the bull by the horns to form a regional health information organization (RHIO) that will enable them to experience the clinical and financial benefits commonly associated with electronic medical records (EMRs).
