A new approach to combatting tuberculosis would take advantage of a complex, natural process called autophagy that the human body uses to recycle nutrients, remove damaged cell components, eliminate invading bacteria, and respond to inflammation.
Maja Mataric', who directs the University of Southern California Center for Robotics and Embedded Systems, will lead an effort to evaluate robots as exercise coaches for adults of all ages, with a particular focus on the elderly.
At a press conference held at the Montreal Heart Institute (MHI) this morning, Dr. Michel Carrier, cardiac surgeon, and Dr. Normand Racine, cardiologist and Head of the Department of Medicine, along with Robert Busilacchi, Executive Director, gave an update on the current situation in cardiac surgery at the Institute.
