Mindray Medical International Limited, a leading developer, manufacturer and marketer of medical devices worldwide, announced today that it completed the acquisition of the remaining stake in Wuhan Dragonbio Surgical Implant Co., Ltd. for a total cash consideration of RMB 435 million (approximately US$ 70.2 million) pursuant to the terms of the definitive agreement entered into on July 7, 2015.
In a paper published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine, physician-researchers at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center assessed the relative impact of COVID-19 on patients hospitalized with the viral infection in March and April 2020, versus patients hospitalized with influenza during the last five flu seasons at the medical center.
Older adults with generalized anxiety disorder who received cognitive behavior therapy had greater improvement on measures of worry, depression and mental health than patients who received usual care, according to a study in the April 8 issue of JAMA, the Journal of the American Medical Association.
Researchers at Duke Medicine conclude that high cholesterol may make breast cancer worse when they found that a byproduct of cholesterol functions like the hormone estrogen, leading to increases in the growth and spread of breast cancer. Studies have previously shown the link between obesity and breast cancer, but the exact cause of the increased risk had not been identified.
Tobacco cessation provided significant survival benefit for lung cancer patients who quit smoking shortly before or after diagnosis, despite the severity of the disease. Results of the Roswell Park Cancer Institute study were published in the Journal of Thoracic Oncology.
