Health Canada has approved Lucentis (ranibizumab) as a treatment for vision loss resulting from diabetic macular edema, one of the major causes of adult vision loss and an important complication of the growing epidemic of diabetes.
Over the past 20 years, many studies have investigated the effects of acute aerobic exercise on cognitive performance. In recent years, meta-analyses of data from these previous research studies have demonstrated that these a single bout of moderate aerobic exercise temporarily improves cognitive performance.
Romark Laboratories announced that results of a large Phase 2B-3 US clinical trial of its new flu drug, NT-300 (nitazoxanide), will be presented as an oral late-breaking communication at the 49th Annual Meeting of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) being held in Boston, October 20-23, 2011.
Ketamine is commonly used in emergency medicine as an anesthetic drug. Later it was discovered to have rapid-acting antidepressant effects, but the mechanisms by which ketamine alleviates depression are still unknown.
