Scientists from the UK and Belgium have found a way to communicate with brain damaged patients who appear to be in a vegetative state. Writing in The Lancet medical journal they describe how they measured electrical activity in the brain to detect consciousness. The technique, known as EEG or electroencephalogram, is painless and involves attaching electrodes to the head.
Medical Brands has obtained a Class IIa medical device status through the appropriate Competent Authorities for Cranberry-Active, a patented cranberry-based oral capsule clinically shown to support urinary tract health.
New research, funded in part by the Canadian Cancer Society, shows that men suffering from prostate cancer are up to 2 1/2 times more at risk of dying from the disease if they are overweight or obese. The men who participated in the study had been weighed prior to being diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Even though poor metabolic health is usually associated with obesity, 30 percent of normal-weight adults are believed to be metabolically unhealthy worldwide, according to Liang.
