Amgen today announced the publication of results from TREAT (the Trial to Reduce Cardiovascular Events with AranespĀ® Therapy), a large, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, Phase 3 pivotal study of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) not on dialysis, moderate anemia and type-2 diabetes.
In 2004 the current Ukrainian president, Viktor Yushchenko, suffered a severe case of dioxin poisoning. In order to understand how the human body reacts to remove the poison, Empa researchers have analyzed over a hundred samples taken from the politician.
Dr. Gang Zheng and a team of biomedical researchers have discovered a "smart" organic, biodegradable nanoparticle that uses heat and light in a controlled manner to potentially target and ablate tumours with greater precision.
Findings from Boston University School of Medicine, which appear in eLife, provide a possible explanation as to why most people who are obese develop insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.
