New research shows that mussels readily take in microplastic pollution fibers from the ocean but quickly flush most of them out again, according to a study by researchers from Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences.
An international team led by the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Md., has developed a prototype of the first fully integrated prosthetic arm that can be controlled naturally and provide sensory feedback, and allows for eight degrees of Freedom - a level of control far beyond the current state of the art for prosthetic limbs.
Curemark LLC, a drug research and development company focused on the treatment of neurological diseases, announced today that it has been awarded a grant by the United States government under the Qualifying Therapeutic Discovery Project (QTDP) Program to advance the development of its lead product CM-AT for autism. CM-AT is presently in Phase III clinical trials at 18 sites around the US.
Patients can now experience increased peace-of-mind and enhanced expert care during cardiac and vascular treatment, thanks to a first-of-its-kind imaging system from GE Healthcare.
The treatment of illness has traditionally been based on the law of averages – what works best for the largest number of patients. As a result, billions of dollars are spent every year on treatments that could be ineffective or even harmful for some patients. What if doctors could tell with a simple test which course of treatment would be best for a particular patient?
