A scientist at Barrow Neurological Institute is leading the global discussion and research on a hidden lobe of the brain called the insula. A.D. "Bud" Craig, PhD, who began studying the often-ignored lobe more than two decades ago, has organized and edited a special edition of the journal Brain Structure and Function dedicated to the emerging medical and scientific interest in the insula.
EDAP TMS SA, the global leader in therapeutic ultrasound, today announced its strategy for the ongoing U.S. ENLIGHT Ablatherm-HIFU clinical trial. Following the FDA Gastroenterology and Urology Devices Panel in December 2009 and the Company's January 2010 meeting with the FDA concerning its recommendations for the trial protocol, the Company has thoroughly evaluated all options aiming at an IDE submission in a feasible timeframe and with acceptable economics.
Review published in the journal Advances in Psychiatric Treatment suggests how children whose parents have drug or alcohol problems can be protected from the consequences usually associated with parental substance misuse.
Children born to women who had gestational diabetes and drank at least one artificially sweetened beverage per day during pregnancy were more likely to be overweight or obese at age 7, compared to children born to women who had gestational diabetes and drank water instead of artificially sweetened beverages, according to a study led by researchers at the National Institutes of Health.
