People experiencing sudden cardiac arrest at exercise facilities have a higher chance of survival than at other indoor locations, likely due to early CPR and access to an automated external defibrillator, among other factors, according to a study published online today in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
Three groups from the Colorado School of Public Health have been awarded a $3 million 5-year grant from the National Institutes of Health to study the effects of air pollution and climate on the kidney health of sugarcane workers in Guatemala.
It all started with flowers: in the nineties of the last century Norwegian researchers discovered that additional copies of a particular gene in petunias inhibited its activity instead of reinforcing it as had been assumed.
Ortho-McNeil-Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc., a unit of Johnson & Johnson, recalled about 16,000 bottles of its Risperdal schizophrenia drug on reports of an uncharacteristic odor. The recall affects one lot that was shipped between Aug. 27, 2010, and Feb. 15, 2011.
