A new role for the placenta has been revealed by University of Manchester scientists who have identified sites which store, and gradually release, oxygen for newly formed embryos in the weeks after the baby's heart is developed.
To help advance research on how genes affect responses to medicines, the National Institutes of Health is spending $15 million over five years to expand a key resource, the Pharmacogenomics Knowledge Base (PharmGKB), http://www.pharmgkb.org/ .
Having intercourse more often may help prevent the development of erectile dysfunction (ED). A study published in the July 2008 issue of The American Journal of Medicine reports that researchers have found that men who had intercourse more often were less likely to develop ED.
BankAtlantic, Florida's Most Convenient Bank, announced today that it has partnered with Tenet South Florida Hospitals to provide outreach events designed to improve the health of the local community. The partnership involves branches and hospitals from Miami-Dade to Martin County, and includes events such as screenings and lectures.
