VuCOMP, Inc., leading developer of advanced computer vision systems for the detection of breast cancer, announced today that it has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval for M-Vu CAD for mammography version 3.1. Concurrently, VuCOMP is releasing an update to its CAD station which includes the ability to process additional standard screening views.
New research from the University of Virginia School of Medicine is shedding light on the biological architecture that lets us hear – and on a genetic disorder that causes both deafness and blindness.
Three months after health reform was enacted, state leaders are beginning to make decisions about implementing the new law, Politico reports: "With the messy politics of health reform, the burden of balancing state budgets and the goal of expanding health coverage, lawmakers at the state level have had mixed reactions."
Thanks to new screening tools, and some luck, researchers at the University of Chicago have discovered three unrelated compounds that inhibit the two toxins – edema factor and lethal factor - that have made anthrax one of the most feared of potential bioterror agents.
Salk and Scripps Research Institute scientists, along with collaborators at the pharmaceutical company Lundbeck, identified two genes that can regulate levels of healthy fats, called FAHFAs, in mice.
