Cohesins are protein complexes that join the two copies of each chromosome-called sister chromatids-to ensure that they are shared fairly between the daughter cells during cell division. In this way, each daughter cell receives exactly the same genetic information from the parent cell.
For the first time, scientists at Albert Einstein College of Medicine have developed a technology allowing them to "see" single molecules of messenger RNA as they are translated into proteins in living mammalian cells. Initial findings using this technology that may shed light on neurological diseases as well as cancer were published online today in Science.
A drug commonly used to treat pain, epilepsy, anxiety and other brain health disorders may be associated with an increased risk of major birth defects, according to a study published in the May 18, 2016, online issue of Neurology, the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology.
BioWa, Inc. announced today that it has entered into two agreements with GlaxoSmithKline. BioWa and GSK have amended their existing 2007 arrangement in order to provide GSK with extended access to BioWa's POTELLIGENT Technology platform for the research, development and commercialization of their antibody therapeutics with enhanced antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity. PROLOR Biotech, Inc., a company developing next generation biobetter therapeutic proteins, today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted orphan drug designation to hGH-CTP, PROLOR's longer-acting version of human growth hormone for the treatment of growth hormone deficiency.
