Chronic stress is being investigated in a new Alzheimer's Society funded research project as a risk factor for developing dementia.
A new U.S. study has shown that seniors who are able to count on their neighbors for help and conversation have better odds of surviving a stroke than those living in less sociable neighborhoods. Study author Cari Jo Clark, an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Minnesota said social isolation is unhealthy on many levels.
Pediatricians and other breastfeeding advocates often encourage new mothers to breastfeed their babies for at least the first six months of their infants' lives based on the purported health benefits to both mothers and children. Many breastfeeding proponents also argue that breastfeeding has financial advantages over formula-feeding-breastfeeding is free, they say.
Lantheus Medical Imaging, a worldwide leader in diagnostic medical imaging, today announced a national contract with Novation for ABLAVAR and DEFINITY Vial For Injectable Suspension, providing increased access to these important diagnostic imaging agents for health care providers served by Novation.
Patients who received post-operative radiation therapy (PORT), radiation therapy after surgery, lived an average of four months longer when compared to the patients who had the same disease site, tumor histology and treatment criteria and who did not receive PORT, according to research presented today at the 2014 Chicago Multidisciplinary Symposium in Thoracic Oncology.
