In the largest study of its kind in the UK, doctors from King's School of Life Course Sciences have found that ethnicity has a major impact on the risk of complications for pregnant women with long-term high blood pressure (chronic hypertension in pregnancy).
Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., today announced up to 7-year efficacy, safety and tolerability results from the Glatiramer Acetate Low-Frequency Administration (GALA) open-label extension study of COPAXONE (glatiramer acetate injection) 40 mg/mL administered subcutaneously three-times-a-week for the treatment of relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (RMS).
The New York Times reports that, while difficulties continue for consumers in the 30 states that are using the federal government's online health insurance marketplace, those who live in states that have chosen to operate their own are faring better.
As men age, their testosterone levels decrease, but prior studies of the effects of administering testosterone to older men have been inconclusive. Now, research shows that testosterone treatment for men over 65 improves sexual function, walking ability and mood, according to a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine by team researchers from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, and twelve other medical centers in the United States, in partnership with the National Institute on Aging.
The team, led by researchers at Imperial College London, Queen Mary University of London and Ergon Pharmaceuticals, believes the approach could offer new hope in the treatment of inflammatory conditions like arthritis, autoimmune diseases, and sepsis.
