Given her relatively young age, Dr. Rae Lyn Burke didn't think much about her family history of Alzheimer's disease - a grandmother and an aunt had suffered from it, but they were much older. Ironically, Burke was just in her late 50s when she started having her own symptoms of early onset Alzheimer's. Even more ironic is that Burke had been one of the key developers of the Alzheimer's drug bapineuzumab, which she now takes herself to reduce the progression of the disease in her own brain.
The Vietnamese government has issued a series of documents aimed at increasing access to HIV/AIDS care and treatment in the country in an effort to keep the country's HIV prevalence below 0.27% in 2007, the Vietnam News Agency reports.
New research has shown that older workers with obesity are at a higher risk of prolonged sickness absence or losing their jobs for health reasons than those of normal weight, with women affected significantly more than men.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research is teaming up with EHE International to raise awareness of the fight against Parkinson's disease. For the month of July, EHE International has kindly donated a 115-square-foot window space at 10 Rockefeller Plaza to showcase the many ways ordinary citizens can support the Foundation through its grassroots fundraising arm, Team Fox.
