With a shortage of new tuberculosis drugs in the pipeline, a software tool from the University of Michigan can predict how current drugs-including unlikely candidates-can be combined in new ways to create more effective treatments.
In a recent academic review, a University of Minnesota professor in the School of Public Health has concluded that food, as opposed to specific nutrients, may be key to having a healthy diet.
Using blood samples from an individual previously infected with Zika virus, scientists funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, part of the National Institutes of Health, have developed an antibody-based Zika virus therapeutic that protected monkeys from infection.
Entertainment sector workers are among those with the highest consumption of psychoactive substances. According to the Adictions study of the year 2017, 17% of the total consume these substances in Spain, a figure which is between France's 22% and Holland's 16%.
Results soon to be published in the International Journal of Obesity reveal that overweight and underweight perception rather than weight status or weight misperception are significant risk factors associated with medium and high psychological distress in Australian men and women.
