The American College of Surgeons today announced a new initiative to improve outcomes for patients requiring complex wound management. ACS will release a new structured teaching and verification program that utilizes engaging media and self-assessment checklists to educate surgical patients and their families about delivering self-care for wound conditions.
In the Huffington Post's "Global Motherhood" blog, Smisha Agarwal, co-founder and India country director of Global Health Bridge, examines the global migration of health workers, highlighting a book titled "Insourced," in which Kate Tulenko, senior director for health systems innovation at IntraHealth International, "argues that the U.S. drains health care workers from poor countries."
Darren Levine's wife Marni Elise Levine passed away from breast cancer at the young age of 37. She was an inspiration to all and the highest ranking female Krav Maga instructor in the United States. After her passing in 2006, KMW established the "Marni Fund" in conjunction with the Stop Cancer Organization. KMW puts on special self-defense seminars worldwide with 100% of the proceeds from the seminars donated to the Marni Fund.

Clinical researchers at Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) have confirmed that patients with oropharyngeal squamous cell cancer ("tonsil cancer") harbour a common type of human papilloma virus (HPV16), but also that such cancers are very sensitive to radiation. For some patients, this may mean successful treatment with radiation alone and avoiding the side effects of chemotherapy.
