It is widely accepted that medical insurance helps older adults with chronic health problems to receive better care. But what about young adults between the ages of 18 and 25, a demographic that also tends to have the lowest levels of health insurance coverage?
AB SCIEX, a global leader in life science analytical technologies, today announced that it is collaborating with the Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute of Mount Sinai Hospital, one of the world's leading centers for biomedical research, to improve disease studies. The project is focused on better understanding cancer, diabetes and heart disease by advancing the study of proteins through the use of an emerging mass spectrometry platform currently under development by AB SCIEX.
Swaziland's King Mswati III on Friday called on men in the kingdom to get circumcised to help reduce their risk of contracting HIV, Agence France-Presse reports. [Gerd] Gigerenzer, director of the Harding Center for Risk Literacy in Berlin, is an expert in uncertainty and decision-making. His new book, Risk Savvy, takes aim at health professionals for not giving patients the information they need to make choices about healthcare. But it's not just that doctors and dentists can't reel off the relevant stats for every treatment option.
