Having high knowledge about HIV and engaging in risky sexual activity do not make high-school-aged teens more likely to get tested for HIV. Those are the findings of a new study by researchers at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University.
As much as 90 percent of variation in adult height may be caused by genetic inheritance, but a multitude of genes are involved. Most of these have yet to be discovered.
Medical professionals have long known that the buildup of plaque in arteries can cause them to narrow and harden, potentially leading to a whole host of health problems — including heart attack, heart disease and stroke.
A new study has shown aspirin cuts down the death rates from a range of cancers. The study reviewed data from eight previous trials involving more than 25,000 patients found that those who took just 75mg of aspirin a day (one-eighth of a normal dose) could reduce their death rates from cancer by 21% with benefits continuing long after patients stopped taking the pill.
