Scientists from Germany have determined the efficacy of currently used therapeutics in treating newer variants of SARS-CoV-2, including the UK, South Africa, and Brazil variants. Their findings reveal that both B.1.351 and B.1.1.248 variants are able to escape humoral immune responses induced by therapeutic antibodies, vaccinations, or natural SARS-CoV-2 infection.
The latest report from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) says between 2006 and 2007 more than a million hospital admissions in Australia were due to chronic kidney disease which was also a contributing factor in one in 10 deaths in 2006.
Allenex announces that Allenex group company AbSorber, together with EUROSTAM, a consortium of European Transplant Centers, has been supported by a € 2.6 million grant as part of the European Commission 7th framework programme (FP7).
Plenty of hospitals and medical providers claim they do a great job at caring for patients and protecting their safety during care. But very few actually publish the cold, hard numbers that could prove those claims. And even fewer do it like the University of Michigan Health System has: on a website open to anyone, with dozens of charts and graphs showing actual performance and comparisons to national averages and benchmarks.
Governor Edward G. Rendell announced today that the Retired Pennsylvania State Police Program for health benefits has been accepted into a federal program to help offset the rising health care costs for retirees.
