Concert Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today announced 48-week results of its Phase 2 clinical trial of CTP-499 in patients with diabetic kidney disease. CTP-499, when used in addition to the standard of care, is being developed to delay the progression of these patients to end-stage renal failure, which requires dialysis or kidney transplantation.
Hamilton Thorne Ltd., a leading provider of advanced laser systems and instruments for the stem cell research and fertility clinic markets, today announces a vendor partnership agreement with Leica Microsystems GmbH of Wetzlar, Germany, a leading global designer and producer of innovative high-tech precision optics systems for the analysis of microstructures.
In a study that compared initial treatment strategies for low-risk prostate cancer among men 65 years old, active surveillance showed higher measures on quality of life compared to an initial treatment such as radical prostatectomy, although the optimal strategy was highly dependent on individual patient preferences for surveillance or treatment, according to a study in the December 1 issue of JAMA.
