Springer is launching a new quarterly journal Translational Stroke Research, which aims to help translate scientific discoveries from basic stroke research into the development of new strategies for prevention, assessment, treatment and repair after stroke and other forms of neurotrauma. The first issue will appear in March 2010.
Researchers announced today in the journal Lancet Oncology that they are well on the way to discovering why women with the faulty genes BRCA 1 and BRCA 2, one of which was inherited by the actress Angelina Jolie, develop breast and ovarian cancer rather than other cancers.
In its recent report on the demography of medical schools the BMA highlighted the growing number of women students and the fact that in future there will be more women doctors than men.
