Two studies are of particular note in today's Scientific Program of the 2009 Joint Meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and the Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology (PAAO): a report by Swiss neuro-ophthalmic researchers about vision exam clues that should make ophthalmologists suspect an atypical variant of Alzheimer's disease; and new evidence from a Singapore National Eye Center study that diabetics who are nearsighted may be less susceptible to diabetic retinopathy.
Unlike aspirin, bone marrow doesn't come with a neatly printed label with dosage instructions. However, a new study published in Cell Reports provides clues about how the dose of transplanted bone marrow might affect patients undergoing this risky procedure, frequently used to treat cancer and blood diseases.
RDT is pleased to announce that, following CE and other market approvals, it has received 510k clearance by the US Food and Drug Administration for the addition to the Tempus Pro medical monitor of: 12 Lead ECG recording interpretation, real-time arrhythmia detection, ST and QT monitoring and alarming (unique to a fully-featured pre-hospital transport monitor) an additional two channels of invasive blood pressure (four in total), Masimo rainbow SET co-oximetry, video laryngoscope and ultrasound.
The National Institute on Aging of the National Institutes of Health has awarded researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis a five-year, $9.1 million grant to study resilience in older adults before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the pandemic's cognitive and emotional effects on older adults.
