Herbs used in traditional Indian medicine to treat diabetes seems to lower blood sugar and insulin levels in a manner similar to prescription drugs, a new study reports.
A new study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine finds child care centers play a pivotal role when it comes to the physical activity levels of preschoolers. Yet few children get to experience outdoor recess time as it is scheduled. Only 3 in 10 children had at least 60 minutes of a full child-care day outdoors for recess, as is recommended by guidelines.
Scientists at the University of Cambridge, in collaboration with Justus-Liebig University, Germany, have uncovered how the genome of SARS-CoV-2 - the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 - uses genome origami to infect and replicate successfully inside host cells.
Transcatheter heart valve technologies are positioned to become the next disruptive influence in cardiovascular medicine and drive a multi-billion dollar market. However, questions remain about the timing of adoption of these new technologies, the numbers and types of patients ultimately benefitting from them, the impact of reimbursement, and where transcatheter technologies pose the greatest threat to the current surgical caseload, especially in light of developments in minimally invasive heart valve surgery technologies.
